isarcher:

A redo of the WSJ’s version. It’s so dead on. Congrats to all those graduating this weekend. & Happy 1 year anniversary since my graduation. Still unemployed(aka no full-time prem benefit job) but fabulous.

3) When you hit a certain point in your 20s, everyone around you starts to get married, for no apparent reason and without any warning.

Some true and funny valid points.

Stat findings on the Jobless: Tell me something I don’t know.

As you can see from stats, like the one I recently reblogged from the Atlantic, there are just more and more findings on the hardships us young adults, especially 25 and under, are experiencing hardship.

Well I just have to say, “No shit Sherlock.” Find me something different. Enlightening me with different stats or findings. Maybe offer some solutions. And by solutions, I don’t mean the “Get more experience” ones.

Let me tell you something, not to toot my own horn, but I have a hefty amount experience. Thing about me is I listened to my college professors when they said start internships now. I did free ones. I even moved to a whole big city and did a free internship. Sorry that I want something that pays me at least $14 an hour so I can pay rent and eat Ramen noodles. I am willing to get more experience, but not without stifling my self-worth or not using my skills. I want more experience. I want to keep using the skills I’ve been taught and acquired. Yet, I also have to be realistic on my standards and living situation. Simple. So all you people who complain about the sad sob story you read about the barista contemplating going back to grad school, don’t judge him/her. Shame on you. I am sure that was not their first choice and they are just being realistic with the options they have at hand.

I mean, Do I want to be a barista or an admin assistant truly? No. Will I suffice and do one of those positions? If it came to it, yes. I join organizations that way in order to still utilize my skills. Ya know, it is what is suggested and to help me get far  in life. It is panning out well so far, but that’s another story.

Anyways, there are many like me in this situation. Many like me jobless or underemployed. I am no different from you or you or you to you. I have revamped and under-vamped my resume more times than I can count. I’ve swooned in interviews. Done my research. I see people who’ve done less and been more moronic and get jobs. So have the 53.6% who are jobless and underemployed.

We are aware of the findings and the facts because WE ARE LIVING IT. This is our life you are posting and finding out about. Why don’t you get our stories vs. putting numbers to them. We have faces. When you want to post your new, enlightened finding…please make sure it is different. Tell me about the ones who have found the job after x amount of months/years searching. Tell me about the ones who gave up and took something else in their own field. Tell me about how much debt their in. Just tell me something different besides the number amount of people that are out there just like me struggling just like me to make better for ourselves in order to achieve a dream we bought. The dream of going to college and being able to conquer a good life.

Stat of the Day: 53.6% of Young Graduates Can't Get Good Jobs ↘

theatlantic:

Edit: As a bunch of people rightfully pointed out, the title “53.6% of Young Graduates Don’t Have Jobs” was wrong. I’ve edited it to reflect the real findings: That 1.5 million, or 53.6 percent, of bachelor’s degree-holders under the age of 25 last year were jobless or underemployed.”

My apologies.

At some point, you have to make a decision. Boundaries don’t keep other people out, they fence you in. Life is messy, that’s how we’re made. So you can waste your life drawing lines or you can live your life crossing them. But there are some lines that are way too dangerous to cross. Here’s what I know. If you’re willing to throw caution to the wind and take a chance, the view from the other side… is spectacular.
